Maps

Maps reveal valuable information about KPVillas and the region.  Whether conveying history, services available, natural resources, community organization, governmental structure, or simple neighborhood walking loops, maps deliver guidance and insight.

St. Joseph County (SJC) offers interactive GIS maps online that allow users to add layers of defined content, ranging from airport noise and Naxolone box locations to topographic contour lines and voting districts.  A Map Gallery shows existing map topics to launch your exploration.

Roam the layers to match your interests, with a simple GIS tip below from this Geographic Information System beginner.  Better yet, refer to the St. Joseph County GIS User Guide.  Common public interest maps are in the SJC GIS Gallery.

Interactive GIS maps are also available from the Michiana Area Council of Governments (MACOG).  These include transportation priorities, crash database, Eco-Counters, brownfields, public art, charging stations, and more.

Non-GIS maps and aerial views of KPVillas are also at blog posts tagged "maps":

GIS Mapping Tips

A St. Joseph County GIS User Guide shows you how to use the map interface.

A beginners tip (i.e., a tip from this beginner):  From the St. Joseph County GIS site, scroll down to a Gallery that interests you.  In this example you select Historic Aerial Imagery.  On the bottom of the screen is a Layers icon.  Select it to choose which layers you want displayed.  If you pick two years, the upper one on the list will override the lower of the checked boxes.

Some maps allow the public users to select layers, while other maps are "pre-loaded."  For a SJC Property search you can select from many field names and descriptions in the Parcel layer

Play around.  You can't break anything.  Have fun with maps.
